Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with volunteering for the community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who had him raised on the farm they owned in Eufala. In second football, he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for all of the nation. The three years he was an offensive lineman, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and won two national championships. The National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth service included ten hours per week in volunteer work during the college. After college he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers played an all-pro three times before beginning an entrepreneurial career. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 youths of the United States. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He coached his university team in 1975. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame was named for his in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. Parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
